Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. He also appeared in The Killing, a drama series which was broadcast across the world. Then, he appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Two internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series. He also played a prominent role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as a blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American TV show. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English as well as mastering various accents. He has claimed that the two brothers first picked up English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches from the comedy show.
