Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. DiFranco's music has been classified as alternative rock, folk rock but also has influences of hip-hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco, who is widely known as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the first pioneer of DIY music. She was among the first artists to start their own labels in the year 1990. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian descent, and her mother is from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and performed the track 32 Flavors. It was included on her 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. It was also featured on the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized when it was revealed that she planned to host the three-day event at a former Louisiana plantation for slaves. The event was cancelled however, she did not express any regret. DiFranco released a second apology two days after the first. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger songs, however she's worked with many artists and styles such as Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She resides in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is with Kristen Ford. When she was 14, she started to write her own music. The songs were played in bars and in coffee shops all through her teens. DiFranco was a graduate of The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school in the year sixteen and enrolled at Buffalo State College. Ani's baritone was a custom Alvarez guitar made following several consultations with Chrys who was an Alvarez artist representative at the time. The guitar is constructed of solid woods. This includes an oak top, with a mahogany sides and the back. Additionally, it comes with The System 600 Preamp. She reside in New Orleans, with her family: husband and two children.
